About
Shizuku Translations emerged out of reading My Little Sister Is Only Ever Cold to Me, Yet Recently She's Been Strangely Clingy, and my desire to see it translated so others could enjoy. Each individual chapter was short and the language didn't look too complex (thankfully I don't have to translate complex sci-fi/fantasy terms), so it seemed a good challenge.
It's a strange little work, but I like it a lot.
I didn't see anyone translating it at the time, and didn't want to donate my work to some random site I didn't have control over, so I made my own (though certainly not from scratch, as seen below).
So, here we are. I'm a one-person operation (well, plus a friend proofreading before I post), and I'd like to stay anonymous for now. I'm not an experienced translator by any means, though I've been learning Japanese on and off for almost 15 years now (god). Translating is great practice, after all.
As for the name 'Shizuku,' a friend got me into the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG through the Sky Striker archetype, and one of the cards is 「Sky Striker Ace - Shizuku」. It's a pretty good card, and the water imagery (滴 means 'a drop of water') gave me a pretty clear theme for the site: being submerged in yuri the ocean.
I hope you enjoy the literature you find here!
Future Plans
My Little Sister Is Only Ever Cold to Me, Yet Recently She's Been Strangely Clingy is my current priority. I don't plan on taking anything else up while I'm working through it.
Once it's done, there's plenty of other things I'd like to try translating. I've wanted a Miniskirt Space Pirates novel translation for over a decade now (I loved the anime), so that'll probably be next!
I'll probably stick to novel translations for now, as I don't have the skillset for manga typesetting or game translations, though another dream of mine is retranslations for Popful Mail's Sega CD port and Breath of Fire III.
Special Thanks
- Kate Bagenzo's Strawberry Starter, upon which this site is built. It was fun to tweak, especially the CSS!
- The Crimson Pro font, which the site uses throughout.
- Icons8, which provided the droplet emoji on the index page and favicon.
- My erstwhile friend and proofreader, whom I know will definitely want to stay anonymous.
